The report this week is fabulous. Down another 2 LBs to 212.5. Total weight loss of 17 LBs. Great bounce back after a vacation week. Stuck to beans and a few visits to Subway. Overall a successful week. Out of town now for three nights for work is latest challenge.
Wish me luck.
I learned one thing about weight loss this week. You just can’t eat anything you want and still lose weight ! Weigh-in this morning showed a half pound gain from last Monday (215 LBs). We went to Disney World on Wednesday with Di’s family. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Villas for 2 nights and went to the Magic Kingdom for 2 days. After that we spent the weekend in Plant City with family taking it easy and recuperating from the trip.
In actuality, the half pound gain was a victory that I can only attribute to all the walking that was done during the trip. Here is a list of the bad things that I ate and drank during the trip. Let this serve as my confession of food sins. Once you read the list you will see that I am lucky that I only gained a half pound.
- Lasagna w/ sausage- 2x
- Bread/butter – way too much
- Sangria – 2x
- Beer -3x
- Bacon
- Pizza
- French Fries
- Bacon – again
- Steak Sandwich
- Hot Dogs x4 (ate on a roll only once)
This week will be a good test for me as I tend to lose motivation once I have a set-back. I will have to be very conscious of my past weight loss failures if I am going to to move move forward, stay focused on good food choices and portion size.
Wish me luck.
Slow and steady wins the race. Had a great week, enjoyed myself, never felt deprived and I am down another 2 pounds to 214.5. I splurged this week too. On Tuesday I got a 6 inch Italian sub at Subway and this weekend I made a big pot of chicken curry this weekend. This time I put in a ton of extra vegetables and cooked it overnight. Obviously, I do not add the rice. Using a lot of spices in my food has really helped me to enjoy the food on this diet.
Morning weight in is complete and I am down another 2 pounds for the week to 216.5. After 4 weeks, my total weight loss is 12.5 pounds. Over all a great first month. Since the first week’s loss of 6 pounds, I have consistently lost 2 to 2.5 pounds per week. If I can keep this up, I will achieve my goal of 195 pounds by the end of March.

This week I had to take a trip out of town for 2 nights. Eating out is always a challenge with a low fat, low carb diet since every restaurant tends to throw fat and cheese on just about every dish. Salads can sometimes push 1500 calories because of all the bread, cheese, and other items that make a salad taste better. Finding good places to eat, especially when you are traveling with others can be difficult. The first day we ate at Applebees for dinner. Turns out Applebees is a great choice for dieters as long as you can stay away from the higher calorie items. They carry a few menu items that are Weight Watchers approved. I usually have the small steak with mushrooms and vegetables for 550 calories. The fat content is higher than I like, but it is fairly filling and tastes great. A cup of chili on the side is another good choice, but be sure to hold the cheese. Again, the chili has more fat than I should have, but since the goal here is lifestyle change not strict caloric restriction, I think it is a good choice. At a great local seafood restaurant I ordered blackened shrimp and 2 vegetable sides. Seemed like a great idea. When the vegetables arrived they were soaked in oil. Oh well. At least I tried. Next time I will ask.
Other choices included Zaxby’s and a cajun restaurant. Finally, a trip to the grocery store for some Go Lean cereal, lean turkey, and Fiber one bars saved the trip. When I returned to Gainesville, I weighed in and actually lost a half pound during the trip. All and all a success. A good day my first full day back, cereal, subway salad, and cereal for dinner lead to another pound lost the next day.
Weigh in is in 2 days. I expect to lose 2.5 pounds this week, even with the work trip. A fairly good result.
